The LAD are going for a franchise tying record dating back to 1924 when they were the Brooklyn Robins, which was the only time the franchise has won 12 consecutive road games. Chicago Cubs were the team that ended the Robins 12 game away win streak oddly enough, and will definitely try to play the role of spoiler again. One major problem for the Cubs to be able to pull off being the spoilers of the Dodgers A.P. (After. Puig), is that they have been one of the best teams in the majors over the last well 35 games since Puig got up to the Dodgers. The LA Dodgers are 28-7 over their last 35 games and 11-2 since the All Star break. Along with that gaudy record sported by the After Puig Dodgers tonight when they go for their 12th consecutive road win they will have the advantage of averaging 6.9 runs per game during this road outbreak. In comparison the Cubs have lost 4 of 5 during this home stand. The Cubs are turning to Travis Wood who with a 7-7 record is pitching much better then his record would indicate. Wood is amongst the leaders in the majors with 18 quality starts. On the flip side Woods last outing was only the Cubs 2nd win in his last 10 starts. Wood is amongst the leagues worse luck pitcher club run support with just 3.26 avg per start. The Cubs are a strange team with two players going deep last night twice each the Cubs lead the NL with 72 HR's. The Dodgers counter again with a pitcher and stats that just jump off the page vs those of the Cubs, Hyun-Jin Ryu will get the ball for the LA Dodgers today. Ryu is having a good season at 9-3 with a 3.14ERA, this is also the first time he is facing the Cubs which is always a plus for any pitcher at least the first time thru the line-up. Even with how well Wood the Cubs All Star LHP has been pitching this season the lack of run support is a hard thing to overcome especially since Wood has a 1-1 record with a high 6.84 ERA in 3 starts vs. the Dodgers. On the other end of the spectrum again not only is it Ryu's first time vs. a cold team at home in the Cubs, Ryu's team the Dodgers aren't just going for their 12th consecutive road win but also looking to go 7-0 in Ryu's last 7 starts; they have already won his last 6 straight. Forgetting all the personal numbers and streaks just 40 games ago the Dodgers skipper Don Mattingly was on the hot seat everyday it seemed like and twice on Mondays. Then Puig came aboard and totally changed the whole team with his infectious unbridled enthusiasm to go along with the crazy talent he has at the plate and can throw you out from anywhere in the field. The number that means the most to the Dodgers is 3.5. That's how many games the surging Dodgers are ahead of the d-backs in the NL west now. This Dodgers team is completely different from the team before Puig got there, the first 1/4 of the season the Dodgers looked more like a shitty sequel to the under-achieving star power team that was Kobe Dwight and the Lakers. Its amazing how winning seems to fix all. If you have read this I think you should already know who I leaning towards winning today that is the Dodgers to keep on rolling.
********** I BET THE L.A. DODGERS (-135) & LAD -1.5 (+125)***************** $$$$ LA DODGERS WON 6-2 $$$$$
