Update 1:41 pm ET

After conflicting reports about whether Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith would miss any regular season games due to suspension following his helmet-swinging incident with Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito Tuesday, the NFL has reached a decision.

Via ESPN's Tania Ganguli, Adam Schefter reports Smith will be suspended for the Texans' remaining two preseason games, as well as the Texans' Week 1 game vs. the San Diego Chargers.

Smith will also be fined for the incident.

Despite a report from Adam Schefter indicating Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith would only be suspended for "up to two preseason games" after his helmet-swinging incident with Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito, Schefter's ESPN colleague Ed Werder insists the NFL is still considering a regular-season suspension.

An official announcement from the league is expected Tuesday.
